Plan ahead Fix a Hurricane Box

Traveler's checks and/or cash

Emergency phone number list including family members, doctors, pharmacies, financial advisors, and banks    

Copies of prescriptions

Copies of children's immunization records

Copies of health, dental and prescription insurance cards and phone numbers

Copies of flood, renter's and homeowners insurance policies or policy numbers and phone numbers

Copies of real-estate deeds, vehicle titles, wills, durable power of attorney, stock and bond certificates, birth, death, adoption, citizenship and marriage certificates

Copies of home inventory and pictures of every room in your home and the outside of your house front, back and side view and roof!   

Copies of your passport

Copies of employee benefit documents

Copies of the first two pages of your federal and state income tax returns from previous year

Copies of your children's latest report card

Back up copies of your financial records

Keys to safety deposit box

Negatives and/or discs of personal photographs

List of all social security numbers, bank accounts, loans, credit cards, driver's licenses and investment accounts with due dates and contact information   

User names and passwords.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Photocopy of front and back or all credit cards

Box should be stored in a safe out of sight place in your home and when you leave your home you should carry the box with you at all times so no one can get the information.

SHELTER
During a tropical storm or a Category 1 or 2 hurricane shelters COULD be opened at South Terrebonne High, Evergreen Junior High, Houma Junior High, Legion Park Middle School, Schriever Elementary, Southdown Elementary, Terrebonne High and West Park Elementary.
As mandated by the state, no shelters will be opened south of I-10 during a Category 3, 4 or 5 hurricane. The parish plans to use buses to transport people from a central pick-up point at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center to shelters at points north. If you need transportation to a shelter or out of Terrebonne Parish call 985-873-6357 and be sure to make officials aware of any special medicals needs. You can also register now with the Terrebonne Council on Aging at 985-868-8411. Supplies brought on the trip must fit under the bus seat or on your lap.
